Proposed Rezoning of Downtown Area
On July 16th, the City Council continued the public hearing to consider the proposed Downtown rezoning and associated Regulating Plan. The public hearing has been continued until the City Council’s regular meeting on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 6:00 pm. A legal description and location map of the 71.88-acre (+/-) subject property can be viewed here. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the Downtown (DT) rezoning as proposed at their July 10th meeting.
The proposed rezoning follows the City Council’s approval of the new Downtown "DT" zoning district on February 5, 2007 via Ordinance No. 07-06. The creation of the "form-based" development district is one of the strategies identified in the Downtown Plan for continuing the revitalization of the area. Interested citizens are invited to contact Planning staff at (972) 771-7745 with any questions or concerns about any of the Downtown planning efforts.
