The Rockwall Fire Department holds 3 meetings per month. The 2nd Monday night of each month is reserved for the department’s business meeting. The 3rd and 4th Monday night of each month, the members of the department have training meetings. During these training meetings department members go through various types of training, including hands on and classroom training.   Members of the Rockwall Fire Department also have the opportunity to attend training classes, which are held at the Texas Fire Training School at Texas A&M University. These 30-40 classes are offered in the Spring and Summer of each year. Other training opportunities are also offered to all members at various other fire training schools around the state.

All members of the Rockwall Fire Department that hold Texas Commission on Fire Protection certifications must attend at least 20 hours of continuing education courses each year. In addition to these 20 hours all members with Hazardous Materials Technician certifications must attend an additional 10 hours of continuing education relating to hazardous materials.

The Rockwall Fire Department consists of a combination of Texas Department of Health certified Paramedics, EMT’s and ECA. These members are required to receive between twenty and eighty hours of continuing education every two years, depending upon the level of certification.

The Department also hosts classes in Driver/Operator Certification, Hazardous Materials Technician Certification, Compressed Foam System Operations and many others. We invite other area departments to come to our State Certification courses.
