IH-30/John King Interchange Construction As part of the John King/IH-30 Interchange Project, the north IH-30 service road, between FM-549 and Townsend is permanently westbound only. The contractor has completed the water line installation. Traffic has to be switched to a portion of the new lanes During construction, the road may be reduced to one lane, flagmen will be in place to route traffic around the construction zone. Construction of the entire project is scheduled to be complete May 2012. FM-740 (Ridge Road) North of IH-30 Barrier Free Ramp Reconstruction October 28, 2011 A contractor working for TXDOT is scheduled to begin reconstructing sidewalk barrier free ramps along FM-740, north of IH-30 in early March. The project is to be completed in early May. Portions of the outside northbound and southbound lanes of FM-740 may be closed for short periods of time during the construction. IH-30/John King Construction Notice Service Road Closure February 2, 2012 Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, the westbound IH-30 service road, west of the on ramp at FM-3549 to west of John King Blvd., will be closed to through traffic (weather permitting). Access will be provided to the businesses along the service road. Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7, the eastbound IH-30 service road, east of Townsend Drive to John King Blvd., will be closed to through traffic (weather permitting). Access will be provided to the businesses along the service road. The closure is to construct a portion of the service road at the John King/IH-30 intersection. Flagmen will be provided to direct traffic to the businesses. The IH-30/John King Blvd. Interchange Project is on schedule for completion in July 2012. Chandler Drive Traffic Signal January 24, 2012 The TXDOT contractor for the FM-740 Project switched traffic onto the new FM-740 pavement on January 18. The signal at Henry M. Chandler has been set to cycle differently than prior to the traffic being moved to the new lanes. The signal is going through 3 cycles (one movement per cycle) instead of 2 cycles (multiple movements per cycle). This should improve traffic flow. TXDOT has also installed a traffic detector on Henry M. Chandler. If a car does not pull up to the stop bar, the signal may not change. The contractor has ordered a "STOP HERE" sign so drivers will know how far to pull forward to be "seen" by the signal motion detector. The closure is to expedite the construction of the northern IH-30 westbound service road. John King is scheduled to be closed for 5 to 6 weeks (weather permitting). One westbound lane of the service road will remain open. The IH-30/John King Blvd. Interchange Project is on schedule for completion in July 2012. FM-552 TXDOT Maintenance Project SH-205 to SH-66 (Fate) December 1, 2011 TXDOT will be performing maintenance on FM-552, from SH-205 in Rockwall to SH-66 in Fate. The project includes adding 3-foot shoulders to each side; reconstructing the sub-grade and resurfacing the road. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin early January 2012. Construction time is 188 working days (20 days per month). During the day the road will be reduced to one lane in the construction area with flagmen for traffic routing. The road will be open in both directions during non-construction times (nights and weekends). At various times during the sub-grade reconstruction, the roadway will have a gravel surface. Construction The City of Rockwall has contracted with APAC-Texas Inc. for the following Street repairs: Kaufman Street Street repairs to the section of Kaufman Street located between Clark Street and Dobbs Elementary School. Margaret Street Street repairs to the section of Kaufman Street located between Clark Street and Dobbs Elementary School. Renfro Street Street repairs to Renfro Street north of Aluminum Plant Road. East Washington Street repairs to a section of E. Washington Street. The section of E.Washington to be repaired is a section of asphalt pavement beginning at Industrial Blvd. Sids Road The section of Sids Road to be repaired is a section of asphalt pavement beginning at S.H. 205 (S. Goliad) H Wallace Lane The section of H. Wallace Lane to be repaired is a section of transitional asphalt pavement near Jeff Boyd Road. Lofland Circle The section of Lofland Circle to be repaired is a section of asphalt pavement beginning at S.H. 205 (S. Goliad) proceeding to the west a distance of approximately 2,225ft.
