Mission
The Engineering Department is tasked with overseeing planning, design and construction of the transportation, drainage, water and  wastewater Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) within the City of Rockwall.  Continual improvement of the City of Rockwall infrastructure is important in moving the City of Rockwall forward.



Traffic Signal Improvements
Ralph Hall Parkway and Steger Towne Road

  • Installation of traffic signal steel pole/mast arm assemblies
  • Pedestrian count down heads
  • Internally illuminated street signs
  • Emergency vehicle & video vehicle detection
  • New ADA ramps, crosswalk striping, and stop bars.

S. Lakeshore Dr./Summit Ridge Dr. Reconstruction

County Line Road Reconstruction
(FM 3097 to Renee Dr.)

Current Status: Final Engineering Design/Right-of-Way Acquisition

  • Public Meeting was held Monday, November 14th,
    2016 at 6:00pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 385 South Goliad, Rockwall, TX 75087.

FM 3549 16" Water Line Relocation
Project Manager: Jeremy White, P.E., CFM
Current Status: Under Construction
  • Construction Completion – End of December 2017
  • The water line will be relocated, from a point approximately 550ft North of the IH-30 frontage road to a point adjacent to the northern property line of 670 Stodghill Rd (FM 3549), approximately 2800 feet in length and along FM 3549.
  • Water line being relocated due to TxDOT FM 3549 widening project.

Stonebridge Lift Station Elimination
Project Manager: Jeremy White, P.E., CFM
Current Status: Construction Advertising, Bidding, and Award
  • Eliminating the aging existing wet/well/dry pit lift station by installing a new gravity sanitary sewer main from the existing NTMWD wastewater main to an existing wastewater manhole of S. Lakeshore Drive and Shore view Drive.
  • New services and cleanouts will be installed for the properties served by the new gravity mains.
  • The existing lift station will be decommissioned.

Squabble Creek Lift Station Improvements

Current Status: Construction Advertising, Bidding, and Award
  • Lift Station Rehab includes replacement of existing pumps, pump starters, electrical room, transformer and generator.
  • Upgrades Piping to accommodate future permanent by-pass pumping unit.
  • Quail Run trunk sewer is 2,225 feet of 30 inch to 36 inch line that will by-pass Quail run lift station.

Quail Run & Memorial Gravity Trunk Sewer

Current Status: Construction – Start October 30, 2017
  • Quail Run trunk sewer is 2,225 feet of 24 inch to 36 inch wastewater trunk line.
  • Memorial trunk sewer is 3,050 feet of 18 inch wastewater trunk.
  • Trunk sewers will allow for the decommissioning of four (4) wastewater Lift Stations.
  • Construction Plan Set
  • Construction Duration to be 11 months (weather permitting)


 
Bayshore Drive Drainage Improvements Analysis

Current Status: Conceptual Engineering Analysis
  • Conceptual engineering level flooding investigation of recent flooding to give potential mitigation measures and construction costs associated with relieving flooding to residential structures.
