Water Quality

Daily water quality sample procedure

Water quality samples begin with the water quality vehicle which contains all equipment/instruments needed to collect the water samples.  The equipment/instruments include sampling tower, isotope alcohol, propane torch, sample bottles, cooling source (portable refrigerator or ice filled cooler).

Upon arrival, the connection and sample tower are sterilized using alcohol and a propane torch.  The sample tower is connected to the sample connection site and the sample bottle is filled with water by opening a valve on the sample tower.  The sample bottle is addressed and stored in a portable refrigerator or ice filled cooler for transport to the NTMWD laboratory.  The NTMWD lab checks for any contaminants and reports back to the City of Rockwall on the quality of our water.
